Chesterfield County Fair Association Scholarship Award

The Chesterfield County Fair Association, Inc., offers scholarships to be awarded each year to individuals seeking an education beyond high school. It is the aim of the Chesterfield County Fair Association, Inc., through these scholarships, to help prepare a better future for Chesterfield County and its people.

The name of the award will be: “The Chesterfield County Fair Association Scholarship Award”. There will be two awards presented each year. Each award will be for $1000.00.

Applications must be received between January 15 and March 15.

In order to be eligible, an applicant must meet the following requirements and submit a scholarship application (PDF) . The applicant must also provide a copy of an official transcript from his or her school demonstrating that the grade point average requirement has been met. If short-answer questions or the essay question on the application cannot be answered in the space provided, use additional paper and include it with the application. While letters of recommendation are not required, if the applicant chooses to submit letters, they must be included with the application. Eligibility Requirements

  1. The applicant must be a U.S. Citizen.
  2. Applicants may be of any age as long as they are a graduating senior in high school with a Cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher (a “C” average); or they have received a GED within one year of submission of an application for the scholarship. (Transcripts required at time application is submitted).

Award Criteria

Application: The candidate must submit an application provided by the Scholarship Committee.

Experiences/Activities: A brief description of experiences and activities participated in will be required.

Membership in the Chesterfield County Fair Association, or any other organization, by the applicant or an immediate family member will not be required but preference will be given to actual members of the Chesterfield County Fair Association. Lesser preference will be given to those applicants with immediate family members who are members of the Chesterfield County Fair Association.

Applicants are also not required to have participated in assisting the Chesterfield County Fair Association in presenting the annual Chesterfield County Fair, but those who have will be given preference.

Short Questions: Several short questions posed by the Scholarship Committee will be required and evaluated.

Essay: An essay will be required. The Scholarship Committee will determine the topic and length of the essay.

Recommendations: Letters of recommendation will not be required but will be considered if submitted with the application.

Renewability

Awards will not be renewable; they will be made one time only.

Payment of the Award

Payment of the award will be made to the institution in which the recipient has enrolled to be used for the cost of tuition, books, and fees. This will include room and board if the institution provides housing.
