Rules and Regulations
- The Fair will be held on the Chesterfield Fair Grounds, Friday, August 22, 2008 through Saturday, August 30, 2008. The grounds will remain open each night during the Fair until 11 P.M. and the buildings will close at 10 P.M. The ticket gates will close each night at 10 P.M.
- Competition is open to all interested parties.
- Entries in all departments must be the work of the exhibitors, farm crops or vegetable departments. The exhibits must have been grown and prepared under the personal supervision of the exhibitor. No professionals will be allowed into competition in the department which is associated with their profession, except those in Departments A. A professional is a person who makes items for sale or who teaches other persons for profit.
- No article may be exhibited in any case which has been awarded a prize in that class at any pervious Chesterfield County Fair.
- Exhibitors will report to the superintendent of each department who will assign space and see that the judge’s attention is called to the same, and make proper entry of prize winners.
- No exhibit will receive more than one monetary prize.
- 4-H Club members will be allowed to make exhibits in open classes.
- All exhibitors are required to deliver exhibits on Thursday, August 21, 2008 from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M.
- The Fair Association assumes no responsibility for damage or loss to livestock or other exhibits from any cause whatever.
- The Fair Association will furnish sufficient guards, Thursday, August 21, 8 P.M. through Sunday, August 31, 2 P.M.
- No awards will be made on any except creditable exhibits in all departments.
- The Association reserves the right to withhold prizes, if fraud, deception, or interference with the judges is attempted.
- No exhibitor will be allowed to remove any article that has been entered for a prize until 2 to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, August 31, 2008. No person or organization will be paid for any exhibit taken down before the stated hour.
- Judging will begin in all departments on Friday, August 22, 2008, as soon after 9 A.M. as possible, at the discretion of the Superintendent. Ribbons will be placed by the judges at the time of judging in each department.
- The Executive Committee shall work out a tentative program for the Fair so there will be the least possible conflict in entertainment or attraction and to the end that there may be a continuous program running through the nine days of the Fair.
- The executive Committee and/or the General Manager reserve the right to close or prohibit any feature of the Fair that is objectionable.
- The Association will secure the best judges obtainable and they will be experts in their line; their decisions being final.
- Admissions to the Fair: Adults - $7.00; Senior Citizens - $4.00 (Age 60 and older); Children Ages 6-12 - $3.00; tax included, children 5 and under – free.
- Awards for prizes will be designated as follows: First prize, blue ribbon; second prize, red ribbon; third prize, white ribbon.
